Amal Learning believes that education and intercultural exchange can transform the lives of individuals and be a drive for social change. They are key to promoting respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms and encouraging both understanding and tolerance.
Everything started when Mabel Prieto and Sarah Waddington met in December 2017.
Mabel had seen the European refugee crisis first hand while volunteering in a refugee camp in Ioannina, Greece. There, she realised that the main problem refugees had to face to integrate into their new societies, to be able to work or study and rebuild their lives, was to learn the host language.
Sarah was an English language teacher who had successfully taught refugees directly over Skype to their phones.
They joined forces to bridge the gap, with the aim of giving refugees support and access to language skills.
Our team is comprised of experienced people from different backgrounds in language teaching, social policy, e-learning, project management and IT. Below are some of the wonderful people that make this project happen. Many more help our students every week.
